Notice of sailing

1. RULES

The challenge will be governed by the following rules:
• International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (NIPAM).
• This notice of sailing
• The instructions delivered upon registration of the sail
In case of conflict between the Notice and Instructions, the latter will always prevail

2. SIGNS
Upon registration, stickers will be delivered

Each boat will apply the sticker on both sides of the stern bow.
These stickers show the identification number of the boat.
The lack of one or the signs  will not allow the identification of the boat before the start and the finish determining the impossibility of identification in the list of boats arrived.

3. ADMISSION
The Challenge is open to all monohull boats categorized by length overall (LOA).
All boats must be in possession of all the documents required by the Italian Maritime Authorities for sailing yachts, valid for the current year.

4. REGATTA results and SCORING

The order of arrival will be compiled for each regatta and the scoring will be calculated with the Simplified Time on Distance system, based on the correction of the real time by handicaps  depending from the boat length and type of Main Sail .

The boats will be divided into different Categories depending from the length overall (LOA) as fixed in each boat Navigation Licence.
Each category have an handicap and compensation will be applied to boats with Furling Main Sail.

5. INSTRUCTIONS
The instructions detailing regatta route, marks of start and arrival lines, relevant positions and other requirements for the sailing, will be will be available at the Offices of  Sailor’s Center Genova .

6. MOORING
The moorings will be made available by the organization and the partecipants will strictly follow the relevant position’s  instruction.

7. AWARDS
The award ceremony will take place on ……at the Sailor’s Center Genova Base

8. SIDE EVENTS
The full schedule of side events will be communicated  to partecipants through additional notice that will be given with the Challenge Instructions.

9. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS and RESPONSIBILITY
The Organizing Committee, Sailor’s Center and MarineRU  does not assume any liability for any damage that may arise to persons or things, both at sea and on land, before, during and after the Challenge .
The Competitors participate to the sailing at their own risk and under their responsibility. The safety of the yacht and its crew is the sole responsibility of the skipper , who must check the good condition of the hull, mast, sails, engine, all the equipment including those for safety .
It must also ensure that the crew is eligible to participate and know where the safety equipment are positioned and how to use it.
Is for each competitor a personal responsibility to wear a personal flotation device suitable for any circumstances.
It is solely the responsibility of each skipper to decide whether to start or continue sailing.
In case of any break of any rule established for the Challenge, the Organizing Committee will have the option of justify that action or not , or to de-qualify the boat .
In case of Protest between boats, the protest will be dealt as for the INSTRUCTIONS given at the Boat registration and submitted to the Organization Committee.
It is recommended to competitors to keep the VHF radio on , even a portable one,  to receive verbal instructions by the organization about the phases of the start and during the regatta.
All Crew members under 18 years must wear a life vest for the duration of the regatta
